Live masterclass online with expert Q&A and the replay

A live masterclass is an online class taught in real time by a practitioner who does the work every day. You watch the session as it happens, ask your question in the on air queue, and keep the replay, the materials and a certificate of attendance after the class ends.

Definition

A class with a start time and a person you can ask

The word masterclass used to mean a session where an accomplished practitioner teaches a small group and answers them directly. Online, the format keeps two things a recorded course cannot give you: the teacher is there at the same moment as you, and you can put your own situation in front of them. A good online masterclass is short (usually 60 to 120 minutes), focused on one outcome and taught by someone who does the work for a living.

Watch it live, ask on air, keep the replay.

Every class on Masterclass.tv works this way. Read how live interactive classes work for the full walkthrough.

Live masterclass vs recorded course vs webinar

Three formats that often get mixed up. The difference is mostly about whether you can ask, and whether the content is current.

How to pick an online masterclass

A few checks before you buy a ticket save you from a class that is a sales pitch in disguise.

  1. 1. The expert does the work

Look for a role and a track record you can check, not just a following. Expert profiles list what they have built.

  2. 2. One clear outcome

A good title tells you what you will be able to do afterwards, in one sentence.

  3. 3. The right level

Every class is tagged beginner, intermediate or advanced. Pick the level that matches where you are now.

  4. 4. Time for questions

Live is worth it because you can ask. Classes of 60 minutes or more leave real room for the Q&A queue.

  5. 5. Ticket or All Access

If you plan to attend two classes a month, All Access at 24 USD per month billed yearly usually costs less than two tickets.

Questions, answered

Is a live masterclass the same as a webinar?

Not quite. Both happen at a set time, but a webinar is often built to sell a product at the end. A live masterclass is built to teach one skill, with time for your questions on air and a replay you keep.

What if I cannot attend at the start time?

Every ticket includes the replay forever, so you can watch the full class later. Watching at least half of it, live or as a replay, also earns the certificate of attendance.

How much does an online masterclass cost?

Each expert sets the ticket price, typically 29 to 149 USD for one class. All Access costs 49 USD per month, or 24 USD per month billed yearly, and gives you a seat in every class marked Included in All Access.
