Sell live classes online with tickets, Q&A and replays
To sell live classes online, pick one outcome your audience pays for, set a date and a ticket price, publish an event page with checkout, and promote it to your list and partners. Teach live with time for questions, then keep selling the replay. The steps below cover each part.
YOUR CLASS
Why live beats recorded for course creators
A recorded course is a big project you launch once. A live class is a smaller promise you can make every month. Already hosting recorded lessons elsewhere? Keep them there and run the live sessions here, as we explain for Kajabi, Teachable and Thinkific users.
A date creates urgency
People put off buying a course they can start any time. A class on Thursday at 6 pm gives them a reason to decide this week.
Less to produce
One focused session and a slide deck, instead of weeks of filming and editing. You can test a topic before you invest in it.
Questions show demand
The Q&A queue tells you what your audience is stuck on. That is your next class.
The replay is a product
Once the class is over, the recording keeps selling to people who missed it.
Always current
You teach with this month's examples, so nothing goes stale the way a filmed module does.
Seven steps to your first paid live class
01
Pick one outcome
Write what a viewer will be able to do after the class, in one sentence. "Build a cold email sequence that books calls" sells better than "Email marketing".
02
Choose the format and length
A single class of 60 to 120 minutes fits most topics. A cohort of several sessions fits skills that need practice between meetings.
03
Set the price
Price the result, not the minutes. See the pricing guide below.
04
Publish the event page
Title, outcome, who it is for, level, what is included and your credentials. Checkout, time zones and reminders are handled for you.
05
Fill the room
Email your list two to three weeks out, post the link where your audience is, and give partners tracked affiliate links.
06
Teach and answer
Keep a third of the time for the question queue. Answer the top voted questions on air.
07
Sell the replay and plan the next class
Turn on replay sales (Pro and Studio), send attendees their materials, and use the questions you did not get to as the outline for your next session.
How to price a live class
You set every price yourself. Most single class tickets on Masterclass.tv sit between 29 and 149 USD. Use this as a starting point and adjust to the value of the outcome.
| Format | Starting point | When to go higher |
|---|---|---|
| Single class, 60 to 90 minutes | 29 to 79 USD | The outcome saves or earns the viewer real money |
| Deep workshop, 2 to 3 hours | 79 to 149 USD | You include templates, reviews or hands on exercises |
| Cohort, several sessions | Priced as a premium ticket, above a single class | Small groups and feedback between sessions |
| 1 on 1 booking | Priced as a premium ticket | Your time is scarce and the problem is specific |
Two more levers: classes you mark Included in All Access earn a share of the monthly subscriber pool, and All Access members get 20 percent off premium tickets, which helps cohorts sell. Plan details are on the online class platform page.
